At a glance: N.C. teams in the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament

DAVIDSON

Opponent: Marquette

When: Thursday

Where: Lexington, Ky.

Comment: Both of these teams play a deliberate, pound-the-ball-inside style. Like Davidson, Marquette has strong foul shooters (74 percent). Golden Eagles a poor 3-point shooting team (31 percent).

DUKE

Opponent: Albany

When: Friday

Where: Philadelphia

Comment: Albany’s only opponent comparable to Duke this season was Ohio State, an 18-point loss. Duke’s northeastern following should sell a bunch of seats in Philadelphia.

N.C. A&T

Opponent: Liberty

When: Tuesday, 6:40 p.m.

Where: Dayton, Ohio

Comment: The winner plays No. 1 overall seed Louisville in Lexington. It’s been since 1995 that A&T last made the tournament. Enjoy the ride.

N.C. STATE

Opponent: Temple

When: Friday

Where: Dayton, Ohio

Comment: The winner may get Indiana, the top seed in the East, in the second round. Wolfpack wants to get in transition. Temple plays at a slower pace.

NORTH CAROLINA

Opponent: Villanova

When: Friday

Where: Kansas City, Mo.

Comment: Villanova takes and makes most free throws in Division I. Winner may get a second-rounder with Kansas in what is essentially a Jayhawks’ home game.
