Mooresville Graded School District

Seminar: The school district and the Career Bridge Advisory Council will host their fourth annual Career Bridge Seminar in Mooresville 6:30-8 p.m. March 21at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville. The event is open to high school students and their parents. Keynote speaker will be N.C. House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, of Cornelius. Students who attend the seminar and turn in the required forms can receive extra credit toward certain classes.

Breakout seminars will take place on a variety of topics, such as athletic scholarship opportunities, how to have a successful college visit, the College Foundation of North Carolina and other topics. Representatives from branches of the U.S. military, Goodwill Employment Services, the N.C. Commerce Division of Workforce and the school district’s N.F. Woods Advanced Technology and Arts Center will be available to answer questions. www.mgsd.k12.nc.us.

Iredell-Statesville Schools

Kindergarten registration: Iredell-Statesville Schools has set the dates for incoming kindergarten students to register for the 2013-14 school year. Students will be eligible to enroll for the I-SS kindergarten program if they will have turned 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. At registration, the parent or guardian must provide an original copy of the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and immunization record. Also required are a completed physical examination form and proof of residency, which can be in the form of a current utility bill (home phone, electricity or cable is sufficient) or a signed lease agreement accompanied by a current utility bill.

The registration dates:

• Coddle Creek Elementary: 9 a.m. and noon March 21.

• Lake Norman Elementary: 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. April 26.

• Lakeshore Elementary: 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 25.

• Shepherd Elementary: 9-11 a.m. and noon-2 p.m. April 26.

• Woodland Heights Elementary: 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. April 12.

Lake Norman High

Soles 4 Souls: Campaign to collect new or gently used shoes continues through March 22. Collection box is at the main office.

Mooresville High

Registration nights: 4:30-7 p.m. March 20, Magnolia Campus, for incoming ninth-graders.

Mooresville Middle

Cheerleading clinic and tryouts: April 23-26, gymnasium. The clinic will be 5-7 p.m. April 23-25; tryouts will start at 3 p.m. April 26. Seventh- and eighth-grade squads will be selected. A completed physical examination form is required. Information: Email kelligreene@mgsd.k12.nc.us.

Mother-son night: 6-7 p.m. March 22.

Woodland Heights Elementary

Kindergarten registration day: April 12 at the school. Open to all families with children who will turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. Advance registration available online; return the form to the school by March 29, along with the Check Sheet for Proof of Residence and Transportation form.

Pine Lake Prep
