INDIAN TRAIL -- A Union County man faces felony charges in connection with the death of a man who was riding a bicycle Saturday night, authorities say.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says Jason Purell Orbison, 29, of Indian Trail, was charged with second-degree murder. The case stems from the death of 31-year-old Joshua Stone, also of Indian Trail.

Troopers say Stone was riding a bicycle when hit by a motor vehicle Saturday evening on Unionville-Indian Trail Road near Danbrooke Drive. That is between Independence Boulevard and Faith Church Road.

According to Union County Jail records, Orbison was arrested a short time after the collision at his home nearby.
