One of the wonderful things about an upcoming wedding is the gatherings leading up to the marriage. Ive been fortunate enough to have recently had my second bridal shower and it was lovely. It was a perfect day, and I couldnt have asked for better weather. The best part for me at these events is always getting to spend time with those I am normally unable to see that often. The future in-laws were able to come down for the weekend and attend the shower. Both families got to spend some much needed time together which made for some happy moments. Also one of my dearest friends, Brittney, came to visit along with many other friends and family. Having everyone around even for a short period of time is the greatest feeling, and gets me even more excited for the wedding day.
Although, being the center of attention seems a bit awkward. Having all eyes on you while opening presents is not something you do every day. Actually the last time that happened was probably my seventh or eighth birthday celebration, and even then I dont think I got nearly as much attention. Everyone watching me open the gifts they were so generous to give made me want to just hand them something in return. Then there is the task of finding the balance between opening gifts too slow and too fast. I didnt want to go so slow that I bored the guests, but I also didnt want to rush it and seem unappreciative. I think I naturally went a little fast, but there is something about staring eyes that make you pick up the pace. LolThere were men at this shower as well. Sherrell, his father, and my dad took part mostly in the food portion of the festivities. While the rest of us were immersed in tissue paper wedding dress design and bingo, the guys were upstairs watching basketball and talking about who knows what. They peaked their head in every once in a while. Sherrell was good at carrying all the bags out to the car, therefore it worked out well for all involved!
