A woman who said she walked in on an alleged burglar in her east Charlotte home helped police make an arrest in the case, authorities say.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say officers arrested Devashay Walker, 18, in connection with a residential breaking-and-entering case Tuesday evening.
According to police, a woman arrived at her home in the 800 block of Ashmore Drive about 8:30 p.m., walked into the residence, and saw a man inside. The woman said she fled into the back yard and called police.
Several officers were sent to the scene, in a residential area between East Independence Boulevard and Monroe Road, west of Idlewild Road. Police say officers, aided by a search dog, were able to find a man fitting the description of the suspect, on nearby Glendora Drive. The woman was taken to the scene and identified the suspect as the man she saw in her home.
Police say they also recovered property from the woman’s home, which they reported finding near where Walker was caught.
Anyone with additional information in the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers, at 704-334-1600.
