Kendall Gill, a Chicago Bulls analyst for Comcast SportsNet Chicago and former Charlotte Hornets player, has been removed from on-air duties after being involved in a physical altercation with Big Ten Network analyst Tim Doyle on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred after a taping of Sports Talk Live in the Comcast SportsNet studio newsroom Tuesday night.
Gill will be off the air at least temporarily while the matter is being investigated, according to a statement released Tuesday night by CSN Chicago news director Kevin Cross.
Reached by phone Wednesday morning, Gill said he was unable to talk about the incident that reportedly drew blood after a punch was thrown.
We have to let everything play out, he said.
According to sources, Gill confronted Doyle in the CSN newsroom after the taping because of critical comments made by Doyle regarding Gills assessment of Monday nights Bulls-Denver game. A controversial call by the officials wiped out a potential game-winning basket by Joakim Noah in overtime. Gill had referred to the decision by the officials as a very bad call.
Doyle could not be reached for comment and other employees at CSN have been told not to discuss the incident.
Tuesday nights show also included panelists Herb Gould of the Chicago Sun-Times and Danny Ecker of Crains Chicago Business, who later blogged about the incident.
