JEFFERSON -- An Ashe County man died Wednesday in a single-vehicle wreck, the N.C. Highway Patrol says.
Harley Wagoner, 76, of Jefferson, was killed when the Volkswagen he was driving went off the right side of U.S. 221, north of Jefferson. The wreck was reported shortly before noon.
Troopers say Wagoner’s vehicle skidded into a culvert and then overturned in a creek. Nobody else was in the car.
