A man died after he was hit by a truck on West Boulevard in Charlotte around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Matthew White Jr. was driving his pick-up truck westbound on West Boulevard when Johnny Tisdale stepped in front of the truck.
Tisdale died at the scene, according to Medic.
West Boulevard was briefly shut down while police investigated the incident. The road reopened a few hours later.
Since 2008, vehicles have struck five pedestrians in the area immediately around West Boulevard and Ross Avenue, according to Charlotte Department of Transportation data.
In February 2008, a 49-year-old woman was killed on West Boulevard about a block west of Ross Avenue. Later that year, a 52-year-old woman suffered serious injuries at the same location.
Both accidents happened at night.
Sidewalks line both sides on that portion of West Boulevard.
This case is under investigation by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Departments Major Crash Investigation Unit.
