Congestion is the big problem for motorists at 8 a.m. Friday, with slow traffic on most of the Charlotte region’s interstate highways.
Few collisions are being reported now, however.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Mooresville down to I-485.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-25 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 5-15 mph from Village Lake Drive to Idlewild Road.
Westinghouse Boulevard at Pioneer Avenue ... Collision reported at 7:409 a.m.; minor delays.
