STATESVILLE -- Iredell County Animal Control Director Chris Royal is on paid leave while county officials investigate allegations about her activities on the job, county officials say.
Royal was put on leave March 15, after the county received a letter.
“We are investigating what was contained in an anonymous letter,” county Human Resources Director Sandra Gregory said Friday.
Commissioner Renee Griffith said the letter included serious allegations against Royal but declined to comment specifically on what those allegations were.
Gregory said the investigation does not imply that Royal is guilty of any wrongdoing.
“We’re hoping to have the investigation wrapped up by early next week” Gregory said.
Three county staffers have been conducting the review and will present their findings to the district attorney, Griffith said.
County officials say there is no record of formal complaints against Royal.
Royal could not be immediately reached.
