Man fights off attempted carjacker

A Gaston County man is accused of trying to carjack a couple at a gas station Sunday night.

Stanley police say 44-year-old Michael Greene tried to carjack a woman and man with a knife at a BP station on Highway 27.

Greene did not get far with his plan because the woman's boyfriend fought Greene and was able to hold him until police arrived on scene.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident, police said.

Greene was arrested and faces attempted robbery charges.
