Fire damages home in south Charlotte

A resident suffered minor injuries Friday morning in a south Charlotte house fire, authorities say.

Crews were called about 8:30 a.m. to a blaze on Wedgedale Drive, a block off Archdale Drive, about a half-mile east of South Boulevard.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the single-story bungalow when they arrived. It took a crew of 27 firefighters less than 20 minutes to subdue the blaze.

Crews said a resident suffered minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. There is no word as to the cause of the fire.
