The winner: I never use that smelly WD-40 on squeaky door hinges. I use furniture polish spray. It removes the noise with no bad smell. And that way, you don’t have to buy another product. (Editor’s note. We’ve had luck at home with cooking sprays like Pam for door squeaks, too. On the other hand, we do not recommend cooking with WD-40.) Bonny Salmeri, Charlotte
Ring stuck? Grab the Windex
If you have a ring on your finger and you have tried everything to remove it, try spraying the finger with Windex and the ring will come right off. But be sure that your sink is stopped up. It works like a charm. Doris Elizabeth White, Charlotte
Copy your important cards
Once a year, I take all my important cards (debit, etc.), line them up on the glass of a copier, copy them, flip them over and copy the reverse sides which display the contact phone numbers. If my purse is stolen or lost, I can immediately make calls to stop possible unauthorized activity. Alice Habbal, Monroe
