CEOs, founders and leaders of entrepreneurial ventures and startup businesses and are welcome. Patrick McClean, an entrepreneur, writer and teacher, will lead the session on improving skills for entrepreneurs and non-marketing types to communicate better. Lunch provided. Interactive art exhibition: The UNC Charlotte Department of Art and Art History will present “I Like Swap” through April 3 in the Rowe Lower Gallery, 9201 University City Blvd. The exhibition was created by Erin V. Sotak, artist-in-residence at the McColl Center for Visual Art, and UNCC professor Mary Tuma. It considers the meaning that items accrue as we discover, collect, present and exchange them. The public is encouraged to bring an item to the gallery space to swap. Carry your object with you until you’ve picked an object you’d like to trade for; bring both to the gallery attendant and take a photo.
Charlotte Small business competition: In honor of small business week, the city of Charlotte is asking for nominations for three Crown of Enterprise Awards. The award honors small businesses that demonstrate leadership and sound business strategies. Three awards will be given: Small Business Enterprise of the Year, Minority Business Enterprise of the Year and Woman Business Enterprise of the Year. Interested businesses should mail nomination forms to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crowns of Enterprise Awards, City of Charlotte, Small Business Opportunity Program, 600 E.
