CMPD: Nova’s Bakery in South End robbed

Nova's, a South End bakery that’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, was robbed Monday night around 11:20 p.m. by two men armed with a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun.

Not only did the suspects rob the clerk, they also pointed that shotgun at the three customers who were inside at the time.

"I've never had any issues; I run up and down here all the time and I haven't had any issues at night or during the day at all, so I am surprised," South End resident Greg Osenga said.

The owner of the bakery declined to talk about the crime, but said they have turned over security video of the robbery over to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Robbery Investigators.

No one was injured during the robbery. Officers continued to look for the suspects Tuesday night.
