Wednesday morning traffic update

Congestion appears to be the biggest problem for Charlotte-area motorists at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Here is the summary:

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion slowing traffic to 15 mph between Village Lake Drive and Idlewild Road.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-20 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-30 mph from the lake down to I-485.

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Woodlawn Road.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

Sugar Creek Road at Reagan Drive ... Collision at 7:45 a.m.; minor delays.

N.C. 51 at Providence Road (Arboretum) ... Collision at 8:20 a.m.; moderate delays on both roads.

North Tryon Street near I-485 ... Collision at 8:10 a.m.; moderate delays inbound.

Harris Boulevard at Reames Road ... Collision being cleared; minor delays.
