Lake Norman economic development group hires new director

Ryan McDaniels is the new executive director of the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation.

McDaniels is currently the vice president of economic development for Cabarrus Economic Development, and has worked for Cabarrus since 2001. He starts his new position on April 15.

“The towns of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville offer numerous benefits to new and expanding businesses considering North Carolina and the Charlotte region,” McDaniels said in a statement.

“My key focus will be to provide diverse and competitive real estate options for these companies.”

Mike Griffin, chairman of the economic development corporation, said McDaniels will be able to “hit the ground running and continue working with our partners on product development and business retention and expansion.”

McDaniels brings a broad knowledge base to the post that’s needed to draw commercial real estate developments, said Jeff Edge, senior vice president of economic development with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
