As Cassandra Pierre woke up from her power nap in beautiful Berlin, Germany, she noticed something was different about her right hand. Her boyfriend, Brian Rose, whispered, "Will you marry me?" but he could tell by her confused gaze that something was wrong. "I put it on the wrong hand," says Brian. He quickly placed the ring on the ring finger of the left hand and received the answer he was waiting for.
The engagement was the highlight of their tripan impromptu trek to Germany booked just 12 hours before the flight. Although he had originally planned to propose at the end of an active day and a fancy dinner, he decided to propose in a more intimate setting after Cassandra napped through their dinner reservation. Contrary to Cassandra's outgoing nature, she loved the intimate proposal. "While I am a social butterfly, when it comes to matters of the heart, I am very private," Cassandra says. "Being secretly engaged for the first few days made it more magical.
The couple brought their new-age creativity into the wedding planning. "We are both about innovation. We were very purposeful about finding the best of every category," Brian says.
The wedding ceremony not only celebrated the union of the couple, but also their cultures. "Some of my family members who flew from Haiti sang several of our favorite hymns in French and Creole at the ceremony," says Cassandra. The wedding ceremony mixed Southern dishes such as shrimp, grits, and baked macaroni and cheese, along with traditional Haitian dishes like fried plantains and black rice.
Thinking about the day, Cassandra can't contain her excitement. "The magic of the entire day, seeing our moms dressed up, having my dad walk me down the aisle, being surrounded by friends and family who shed tears of happiness, becoming my best friend's wifethe whole day was the best thing!"Featured VendorsCake
