It was his second year of undergrad at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC, and Joe Campbell decided it was time for a haircut. Little did he know his hairdresser, Samantha Dancer, would be the woman he would end up marrying. Joe and Samantha hit it off from that very first haircut, but it was not until Joe went back to the salon six months laterand just so happened to be assigned the same hairdresserthat he asked her out on a date.
The couple had wildly different backgrounds, but they clicked from the start. Joe, now a professional golfer for the eGolf Professional Tour, grew up golfing in Cheltenham, England. Samantha had lived in the same town her whole life and was ready for a change. He was something different and something fresh. And the British accent didnt hurt either, she laughs.
That first conversation, the couple remembers talking about their shared love of The Killers, hookah, and fishing. They carried that lighthearted streak throughout their relationship, spending their days fishing and riding ATVs. Shes got a good attitude in life. Shes always adventurous, says Joe.
In August of 2012, Joe proposed. The couple was fishing early one morning, when Joe slipped a note reading My Biggest Catch onto the hook and cast it into the ocean. While Samantha was reeling in the line, Joe dropped down on one knee behind her and pulled out the ring.
The wedding followed two months later, and it was everything the couple could have hoped for. They held the ceremony on the lake in Samanthas parents backyard and set up a driving range and hookah bar for guests. It was just a big party, Joe says. And Samantha agrees: We just wanted to have a great celebration with everybody.Featured VendorsMusic & Entertainment
