Seven people have been transported to the hospital following a traffic accident on Charlotte's west side.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the two-vehicle crash appears to be a head-on collision at the intersection of Tracy Avenue and Marietta Street. The Charlotte Fire Department reports one of the vehicles overturned in the crash.

One person has injuries described as life threatening; the remaining six transported to the hospital have potentially life threatening injuries.

Among the injured are four children, according to CMPD.

All seven patients have been taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Dilworth.
