Nearly $7,000 in jewelry taken from Carolina Place

Pineville police are looking for a man and woman who teamed to take nearly $7,000 worth of jewelry from a Carolina Place Mall store Thursday night.

Police say the larceny took place about 7:30 p.m. at Carmel Jewelry. They say a woman distracted a clerk, and a man reached behind the counter and grabbed a handful of items. Store officials placed the value of the jewelry at $6,990.

The man and woman ran off. Police released surveillance video Friday of the alleged thieves.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Pineville detectives at 704-889-7867.
