Warrant: S.C. correctional officer had sexual contact with inmate

A South Carolina correctional officer has been charged with misconduct for allegedly having sexual relations with a female inmate.

Darlington County, S.C. Detention Center officer Steven Drake, 30, was charged with one count of misconduct in office for allowing a female inmate to perform oral sex on him in the booking area, a warrant shows.

The incident happened on Feb. 6. State authorities began investigating at the request of the Darlington Sheriff’s Office.

Drake faces up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor misconduct charge.
