Sunday shooting death still under investigation

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives on Monday continue investigating the weekend shooting death of a man who allegedly forced his way into an apartment in northwest Charlotte.

Police say De’von Anttone Noel, 27, was shot and killed inside a second-floor unit of the Alta Grove Apartments, in the 9900 block of Season Grove Lane, near Brookshire Boulevard. The shooting was reported about 3 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, Noel entered the apartment, where another man lived and had a female guest. The men struggled, and Noel was shot in the chest, police say.

The male resident of the apartment, whose name has not been released, suffered a minor gunshot wound to the hand. Police say the man and woman inside the apartment knew Noel.
