Gastonia police are searching for woman suspected of killing her mother and stepfather in a house fire.
Christa Andrene Smith, 38, faces two counts of murder for setting fire to the Gastonia home where she lived with her mother and stepfather, police said.
The single-story brick house, located in the 1500 block of Seigle Avenue off South Marietta Street, caught fire sometime before 5 a.m. on Feb. 18.
Christa Smith called 911 to alert firefighters to the blaze. She escaped the blaze unharmed, but firefighters were unable to save Angela Smith Wilson, 57, and her husband Ernest Adams, 78.
Fire officials said they found one victims body in a bedroom and another in a hallway. Authorities originally said the fire was an accident.
Anyone with information about Smiths whereabouts should call the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6702.
