ALBEMARLE -- Former NFL halfback Chris Kouri, now a lawyer in Charlotte, will be keynote speaker at Saturday’s annual Stanly County Democratic Party Convention.
The event is open to the public, regardless of party affiliation, and begins at 10 a.m. in the City Council chambers of Albemarle City Hall. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Kouri, a Yale University graduate who earned a masters at Duke University and his law degree from UNC Chapel Hill, is an economic development attorney with Womble Carlyle Innovators at Law in Charlotte.
He has served as a board member of the N.C. Travel and Tourism Coalition, the Charlotte Regional Partnership, the Governor’s Motorsports Advisory Council, the Governor’s Healthy Schools Cabinet, and the UNC Charlotte Motorsports Program Advisory Council.
Business at Saturday’s convention will include elections of local party officers, delegates to the 8th Congressional District Convention, and delegates to the N.C. State Democratic Convention. Albemarle City Hall is at 144 North 2nd Street.
