Charlotte man convicted of raping woman near bus stop

A Mecklenburg County jury Friday found a Charlotte man guilty of raping a woman at gunpoint near a Mallard Creek Road bus stop.

Kevin Cellent, 22, will spend at least 220 months in prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Cellent was arrested in August 2011 after he approached a woman waiting at a bus stop, threatened her with a gun and raped her behind a nearby privacy fence. He kicked her before he walked away, prosecutors said.

The woman testified against Cellent in court this week.
