Man shot in legs in north Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police hope the victim can help them find the man responsible for shooting at a group of people early Monday morning in north Charlotte.

The shooting was reported about 12:15 a.m. in the 2300 block of Julia Avenue. That is off Statesville Avenue, near Interstate 85 and not far from the old John T. Williams Middle School site.

Police say a group of people was standing near the front of the house when a man standing about 50 feet away started firing shots. Several shots were fired, and a man was struck in both legs. He was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

Police say they did not get a good description of the gunman.
