A 19-year-old Concord man was found dead in his driveway early Wednesday.

Police responded shortly after 4 a.m. to a house on Madison Avenue N.E., which is not far from Carolina Mall. A portion of the street was closed off by police, who said they were looking into a reported shooting.

Police identified the dead man as Treyvon Jermaine Burton, 19.

Officers have not released the name of a suspect in the killing, or given a motive.

According to a statement by police, officers responded to a report of a shooting victim and found Burton lying in the driveway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Concord Police say the investigation is ongoing. Investigators encourage anyone with information on the crime to call Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers at 704-93CRIME (704-932-7463) or the Concord Police Department at 704-920-5000.
