Thursday morning traffic update

A section of Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte’s Elizabeth community remains closed late Thursday morning, as Duke Energy crews work to fix power lines that were knocked down earlier.

Police say a tractor-trailer took down the lines about 7:30 a.m. The road is closed between East 7th and East 8th streets.

And there are other problems on Charlotte-area roadways at 11:15 a.m. Thursday:

Hawthorne Lane, between 7th and 8th streets ... Power lines down; road closed.

I-77 southbound, north Charlotte ... Collision reported about 10:45 a.m., between I-85 (Exit 13) and Sunset Road (Exit 16). Moderate delays in the area.

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Providence Road to I-77,

Monroe Road near Conference Drive ... Crews putting out an apartment fire; minor to moderate delays.

Sunset Road at Oakdale Road ... Collision reported about 10:45 a.m.; minor delays.

Albemarle Road at Lawyers Road ... Collision reported about 11 a.m.; moderate delays.
