Hickory roommates’ feud ends with slashing

HICKORY -- Police say an argument between two roommates ended with one man hospitalized and the other man in jail.

The incident was reported about 4 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on 24th Street N.E.

Police say Timothy Gilleland and Robert Vincent, each 53, began arguing. The dispute escalated, police say, and Gilleland is accused of slashing Vincent in the face with a knife. A woman living in the mobile home knocked the knife out of Gilleland’s hand, police say.

Gilleland was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is jailed under $50,000 bond.
