Union County man guilty of sexually assaulting 7-year-old

A Union County man will spend at least 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

A jury found Kevin King, 29, guilty Wednesday on two counts of first-degree sexual offense with a child and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

The charges stemmed from January 2010, when King sexually assaulted the victim while she was visiting him at his house, prosecutors said.

The girl testified against King during the trial, District Attorney Trey Robison said.

“I would also especially like to commend the child, who had the courage to get up in court and testify against her abuser,” Robison said. “And I would like to thank the people both inside and outside the court system who supported her through that process.”
