Man attacked, beaten on Monroe street

MONROE -- Police in Monroe are investigating an attack on a man that left the victim unconscious, authorities say.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, said he was leaving a house about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Spring Street when he was assaulted by four men. The man said that when he tried to get on his moped, one of the attackers began choking him, leaving him unconscious.

The victim said the men also beat him, then poured gasoline on the moped and set it on fire. The victim said he called someone to pick him up when he regained consciousness.

No arrests have been announced in the case.
