App. State student found dead in dorm

Appalachian State University officials say foul play is not suspected after a 19-year-old freshman was found dead in her campus dormitory on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the university identified the student as Keegan Garratt of Cary. Further details about the circumstances of her death were not immediately available.

ASU staff planned to provide counseling for students and others on campus affected by Garratt’s death. In addition, the university plans to provide a memorial book for people to sign that will be sent to Garratt’s family. The book will be available starting Friday afternoon in the Plemmons Student Union on campus.

The university said funeral arrangements for Garratt are incomplete.
