Charlotte Latin team 1st in state

A Charlotte Latin team finished first in the North Carolina sixth-grade division of the U.S. Army’s eCybermission competition.

The team, called the Deep Thinkers, consisted of students Chloe Ciucevich, Sarah Coston and Kase Mermans. They'll each receive a $1,000 U.S. Series EE savings bond.

eCybermission is a web-based science, math and technology competition for students in grades six through nine. Teams design and carry out a project using a scientific procedure. Charlotte Latin’s team researched the presence of coliform bacteria in ice from Charlotte-area restaurants.
