Burke man faces prison, then deportation

MORGANTON -- A 42-year-old Morganton man was sentenced to at least 26 2/3 years in prison after being convicted Friday in a Burke County courtroom on two counts of felony sex offense.

Luis Gustavo Licano Rosales, a Honduran national, then will be deported, Judge Eric Levinson ruled.

A jury delberated 2 1/2 hours before finding Rosales guilty, ending a trial that lasted four days. At the time of the arrest, Burke County authorities said the alleged crimes involved a minor as the victim.

Rosales was sentenced to between 26 years 8 months and 33 years 6 months in prison. Prosecutors say the offenses took place in June and August 2011 in Morganton.
