Tuesday deadline for Meck small biz, entrepreneurship board

Tuesday is the final day to submit applications for a new Mecklenburg board to advise county leaders on issues related to area small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Applications can be submitted on the county’s website: http://bit.ly/WEBX5Y

The 11-member advisory board was proposed in March by county commissioner Matthew Ridenhour. According to the county website, the board would have multiple tasks, including recommending ways the county can stream permitting processes for new and expanding businesses, offering proposed changes in building codes, policies and taxes and to keep commissioners informed about new developments and challenges that area small businesses and entrepreneurs face.

Anyone wanting to serve on the board must be a Mecklenburg County resident, and preference will be given to those familiar with the process of starting a new small business or entrepreneurial venture.
