Concord police seek bank robber

CONCORD -- Police are asking the public’s help in finding a man accused of robbing a credit union at gunpoint Monday.

The robbery was reported about noon at the State Employees Credit Union branch at 538 Lake Concord Road NE. Police say the man showed a handgun to tellers, jumped over the counter, and put money from the cash register into a small black bag.

Police say they believe the man walked to an adjacent parking lot behind the bank and drove off in a black four-door Mercedes-Benz. Investigators say they believe the man drove on Branchview Drive, to Copperfield Boulevard, and made a left onto Roxie Street. At the corner of Copperfield and Roxie, police say, the man was involved in a collision, causing damage to the right real tail-light area, before driving away.

The suspect is identified as a white male, wearing a black ski mask, a dark jacket, blue jeans, and a blue Nike ball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call Concord police at 704-920-5000, or the FBI office at 704-672-6100.
