Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have released more details about the wreck that killed a woman on Wilkinson Boulevard Thursday night.
Officials said Sonia Ramos, 39, died around 10 p.m. after she fell off the back of a motorcycle and was hit by another vehicle.
Ramos was riding on the back of 2002 Honda VTX1800 motorcycle and fell off around the 2800 block of Wilkinson Blvd. She was then struck by a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. The driver, Lakisha Woodard, 27, was later arrested for driving while her license was revoked.
The west Charlotte road was shut down at 10:30 p.m. and Medic and firefighters responded to the wreck, which occurred in front of a Charlotte Fire Department station. Ramos was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Dilworth but police confirmed she had died about 30 minutes later.
Police do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash and both Ramos and the motorcycle driver were wearing helmets. Any witnesses are asked to call Det. Kevin Allred: 704-336-8862.
