Police investigate Belmont shooting

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting after a man was shot in the leg Thursday night.

Officials said a man was visiting friends at their home on Harrill Street in Belmont when he stepped outside to smoke just before midnight. The man, who’s identity has yet to be released, told police he heard gunshots and discovered he’d been shot in the leg. Officers with the Eastway Division responded and the man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
