Man accused of kidnapping Lincoln County girl, 3

Observer Staff

Police arrested a 55-year-old man early Monday in conjunction with an Amber Alert for a young Lincoln County girl.

Troy Koonce took the girl from her Lincoln County home Sunday and drove to Washington, N.C. where he, the girl and the girl’s mother use to live.

Koonce arrived in Lincoln County and wanted the girl and her mother to return to Washington with him. When the mother refused, he took the child, according to a Lincoln County Sheriffs report.

Koonce was arrested for kidnapping and taken to Beaufort County Detention Center where he was held on $20,000 secured bond.

The girl was found safe.
