By Cleve R. Wootson Jr.

The N.C. Highway Patrol will be out in force along Interstate 85 in Cleveland County this week, checking for commercial truck violations.

Operation Road Watch begins Tuesday morning and lasts 48 hours.

The enforcement effort will focus on commercial vehicles.

Troopers will also be looking for aggressive driving around commercial vehicles, unsecured load violations, and trucks that are improperly transporting hazardous materials across state lines.

Troopers will conduct roadside inspections and portable weight operations.

The goal, troopers say, is to reduce collisions around the section of I-85 that runs through Cleveland, Gaston and Mecklenburg Counties.
