Charlotte lottery ticket wins $1 million

A lottery ticket bought in Charlotte Wednesday won $1 million in the Powerball drawing, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

A customer of Oakill Deli & Grill on Oakdale Road purchased the winning ticket, which beat odds of one in 5.1 million to match all five white balls drawn, the release said.

Players have the chance to win the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever in Saturday’s drawing. If one ticket wins all, someone could claim a $550 million annuity or a one-time cash payment of $350.1 million.

A Powerball ticket sold in Charlotte for hte May 11 drawing is worth $10,000 and has yet to be claimed. It was sold at Sam’s Mart #7 on Beatties Ford Road.
