CMS employee claims assault by student at Carowinds

FORT MILL A Charlotte high school employee intends to press charges against a student this week after she told the York County Sheriff’s Office that the female student punched her in the face and threw a cup of urine out a bus window while on a field trip to Carowinds.

The incident happened earlier this month while students and teachers from Vance High School waited to enter the amusement park, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

The school employee, 39, told deputies that the student, 18, asked to use the bathroom while she was on the bus and was informed she’d have to wait.

The student got angry, urinated in a cup and threw it out the window, the report states.

Once they got off the bus, the student yelled profanities at the employee and threatened to slap her, according to the report. A teacher escorted the student away.

The student then said she wanted to apologize and was allowed to approach the employee, the report states.

Instead of apologizing, the student threatened the employee again and hit her in the face with an iPhone in her hand, causing the employee’s lip to swell, according to the report.

The Vance principal picked up the student and removed her from Carowinds.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case, the report states, and the employee told deputies she wants to press charges against the student for assault.
