Hough High student hit by vehicle, injured

A Hough High School student was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Friday morning east of Davidson, authorities say.

The youth, a male 10th-grader, was struck by the mirror of a passing pick-up truck about 7 a.m. on Davidson-Concord Road near Robert Walker Drive, according to Davidson and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials.

The incident took place near the entrance to the River Run neighborhood.

Kristin Young, a spokeswoman for Medic, said the injured student had life-threatening injuries. Young said Med Center Air airlifted the victim to a trauma center for treatment.

Davidson News.net, attributing the information to a town official, said the injured student was skateboarding when he was struck.
