More Information

A 52-year-old man was fatally shot late Saturday and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are looking for a suspect.

Police received a call for service around 9:42 p.m. Saturday in the 6000 block of Albermarle Road. When they arrived, they found Franklin Festus Igwilo had been shot.

Igwilo was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m.

Detectives have determined that Igwilo and a suspect were dropped off at the 6000 block of Albemarle Road in a dark (possibly black) vehicle, with the body style of a Maxima or Camry.

The vehicle then left the scene. An altercation occurred between Igwilo and the suspect, who ultimately shot Igwilo and fled on foot.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS. Detective Hefner is the lead detective assigned to the case. Residents can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
