Caldwell suspect caught by deputies

LENOIR -- A Caldwell County man who had been the subject of a search by law enforcement authorities was found overnight and taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office says Cloyd Wayne Burns was located by deputies near the Long View community, in western Catawba County between Hickory and Morganton.

Burns had been sought since Thursday on a number of charges that stemmed from a dispute with a neighbor, authorities in Caldwell County say.

The sheriff’s office said Burns has been charged with attempted murder, burning personal property, breaking and entering, and possession of stolen property. He is jailed under $500,000 bond, and his initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
