Baba Black Lager, Uinta Brewing, Salt Lake City

Baba Black Lager, Uinta Brewing, Salt Lake City

About $9.99 for a six-pack.

If I told you this week's pick was only 4 percent in alcohol by volume and available in cans, you'd probably think it was a wheat beer like the ones I wrote about last month. Uinta's Baba Black Lager is far from it. Think of the black lager as porter's little brother. Both styles display notes of coffee and chocolate, but the black lager has a much lighter body and a crispness the porter lacks, resulting in a deceptively drinkable “dark beer.” Try Baba with a pulled pork sandwich this summer – you won't be disappointed.
