4 hurt in Ballantyne-area crash

Four people were injured late Monday night in a single-vehicle crash in southern Mecklenburg County.

Police say the driver of a Jeep apparently lost control of the vehicle shortly before 11:45 p.m. at Marvin and Johnston roads, in the Ballantyne area. The vehicle went down an embankment and overturned, authorities say.

Kristin Young, a spokeswoman for Medic, said four people were taken to Carolinas Medical Center. The four had serious injuries but are expected to recover.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cruiser at the scene was rear-ended by a vehicle during the investigation. No injuries were reported in that incident.
