Cam Newton flashed a grin when he heard Tim Tebow's name in a reporter's question.
Maybe he knew it was coming. Or maybe he was happy to share his thoughts on his former college teammate.
But Newton expressed nothing but excitement and well wishes for Tebow, the quarterback who earlier this week was acquired by the New England Patriots.
"Im excited and I wish Tim Tebow the best, and hopefully it works for him and the Patriots, and well see where it goes from there," Newton said.
Newton played behind Tebow at Florida in 2007 and 2008 before transferring to Blinn College.
The two, both Heisman Trophy winners, met for the first time in the NFL last year in a preseason game at MetLife Stadium when Carolina beat the Jets 17-12. Newton went 6-for-15 for 60 yards and a touchdown while Tebow went 4-for-14 for 55 yards and one interception.
They will meet again in Week 11 when the Patriots travel to Charlotte for a Monday Night Football game.
That is, of course, if Tebow is still on New England's roster.
