Police investigating bones found at Chantilly construction site

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives are conducting a death investigation after the discovery Wednesday of skeletal remains at a construction site in the 2600 block of Bay Street in the Chantilly neighborhood just southeast of uptown.

Police said they are working with the medical examiner’s office to confirm that the remains are human.

Detectives will review missing persons cases and rely on the medical examiners to positively identify the victim and determine a cause of death.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood to determine if there are any witnesses to the incident. Sarah Ellis
